Telok Blangah

Plants, Photos, People

Nestled in the heart of Telok Blangah, surrounded by trees, the house became a restful separation from the usual pace of Singapore. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding forest and the Client’s wishes for a home to build memories with folks, the concept called for pockets of spaces for plants, clean uplifting walls for photos, and opening up the main hall for gatherings of people.

A clean open space and white paint help to expand the space, where vignettes of birch wood highlight key moments. Curved coved ceiling helps soften the ceiling spaces, drawing eyes to the dining table, sofa, seats, and a display wall in wood finish. These are the areas where people gather and memories are captured. Interspersed between them are sets of plants grown by the client, drawing in the connection of nature to the home.

The master bedroom occupies 2 bedrooms, where one side is converted to the dresser and wardrobe. An existing divider wall from the previous owner was retained and redone to hold a TV, while acting as a soft separation between the 2 areas.
