Strata @ Orchard

Situated in the heart of Orchard, STRATA @ orchard taps on the existing 3 layers that define Orchard Road- the streetscape, the podiums, and the towers&skys. Using these layers, the building is made into 3 blocks as layers, and then splitting each layer apart, creating new public stratum spaces within.

The visual connection between the people along the streetscape and the strata is key to its success. As such, the layers are chamfered along the sidelines of the people along the streets, allowing them to view straight into the public spaces. The chamfered layers also frame the view of Orchard above the treeline.

Each layer is then broken into spaces that cater to 3 groups of visitors - wanderers, explorers, and the prepared. The lowest layer draws in people who wander into strata, showcasing the best works and bringing them to the upper floors. The second layer invites those who wish to explore more about the Artisan works and crafts. The top layer are for those who wish to engage the craft through workshops or for a conference at the auditorium.
